Electric Model Aircraft Are Fun - For several years now we have, with much success been experimenting with R/C electric model aircraft. We have made available the EM 406A electric motor which is a EM 406, 380 size electric motor with a propellor driver pressed onto its output shaft. These are known in electrics circles as 4000 series motors. To power it we are now using a 7.2 volt 600 mah fast discharge battery pack with a modified SL 148 (discontinued line) speed controller. This combination is running at up to 7000 RPM driving a 7 x 6 propeller and this even with the voltage drop through the controller. 540 Size Electric Motors With Propellor Drivers - Also available is our EM 407 electric motor with a pressed on prop driver which is sold under the stock code EM-407A. These are known in electrics circles as 5000 series motors. During testing we experienced our best results using an 8 X 6 Master Air Screw Propeller (old type-black) whilst running off a 14.4 volt 600 mah nicad battery pack.. This combination gave us a 3 minute duration flight whilst revving at up to 7,800 RPM. As an accessory we also have available plastic radial motor mounts for both the 380 and 540 size motors and in addition we have an ARF power pod which can be purchased with or without the electric motor included in the kit. See DEALERS for where to purchase
our products and MODEL KITS for a look at and some specifications
on our
Universal Power Pod kits which are the most simple way to
attach an electric motor to your glider
